What are fees spent on?
The answer is simple. The presence of the Cambridge Inspectors in France for training or liaison work
is subsidized or paid for by the Association. This includes Cambridge Inspectors' consultancy
fees, transport, accommodation and subsistence. Training teachers on examining procedures and
standards does not involve only new colleagues. It is vital for quality assurance in the examination,
and is therefore important for all OIB teachers. It can also be a source of professional development.
The role played by the Cambridge inspectors in this work is a central one.
Your annual subscription fees are also used by ASIBA to carry out other activities in support of the OIB such
as the translation of this website into French, the translation of the OIB Handbook and its annual up-dating,
bearing the expenses of a presentation by two senior teachers to a conference of UK university admissions
officers, covering the expenses of additional meetings with Cambridge representatives and attendance of
Cambridge representatives at the 3rd FDEI Congress / OIB anniversary event. Furthermore many other actions
in support of the OIB are carried out by members of the Board on an entirely voluntary and unremunerated basis.
The Association does not, however, pay for costs incurred in the examining session in May/June. The
Cambridge Board does not wish to use private finance to cover any aspect of examining. These costs are
covered by the Board, drawing on the subsidy paid to them by the French Ministry of Education, via the DRIC.
