OIB - For New Schools
For New Schools
Only schools approved by the
Ministère de l’Education Nationale may undertake the
International Option. Since there is much information about courses and examining that schools wishing to
prepare candidates for the British OIB must have before undertaking teaching and preparation of candidates,
they must contact all of the following:
- The DREIC (Direction des Relations Internationales et de la Co-opération) in Paris
- The Cambridge board (University of Cambridge International Examinations) in Cambridge
- The Schools' Chair (the leader of the group of schools/sections offering the British OIB) at
hop@enpferney.org
It is especially important to contact the Schools' chair quickly. S/he (together with the English and
History-geography subject leaders) is available to offer advice on starting preparation and to explain
the responsibilities of schools and teachers who wish to present candidates for this demanding examination.
Such aid is available on demand, but it is the responsibility of the school or the section setting up OIB
classes to ask for help in good time - preferably when the first batch of OIB candidates is starting 1ère
(and so some two years ahead of the first examination session).
Contact details can be found in the Cambridge board's
OIB Handbook which must
be read in full by teachers before plans are made to start OIB teaching in 1ère.
